Testimonial and endorsement for John "JK" Kenworthy for Park City Council 2025

My name is Monaye White, and I've been a resident of Park City for almost 6 years. I am proud to support JK for city council. I've worked for him for 4 years and I've seen all the work he's done to help not only his employees, but also other residents with how he advocates - namely, trying to get better parking for workers on Main Street. What impresses me most about JK is his willingness to help anyone who has a concern. For example, when I told him that I have to travel 25 minutes to take my autistic daughter to school, he walked me through the process to request a transfer to a school that's just 6 minutes away from where we live. He helped me advocate for my daughter even after the request was denied. That's the kind of leadership I think Park City needs. I hope you'll vote for JK for city council.

When I first walked through the doors of Flanagan’s, I had no idea how transformative this experience would be—not only in terms of my skills and professional growth, but in the way it would help me discover who I truly am. For all of that, I owe you an immense debt of gratitude.

Thank you, JK, for believing in me when I was still finding my footing. Thank you for seeing beyond the surface and recognizing potential in me, even when I might have doubted it myself. The opportunity you gave me—to grow into both a bartender and a server under your leadership—has been one of the most meaningful and formative chapters of my life.

Your trust empowered me. Your example inspired me. And your guidance challenged me to rise above my own expectations. You lead with humility and strength. You demand the best not through pressure, but through example. And most importantly, you lead with heart. That’s what sets you apart—and that’s what makes Flanagan’s not just a workplace, but a home for so many of us who have had the honor of working with you.

With the utmost respect and heartfelt appreciation,
Fernando Lima

I met JK in 2008 on a snowy Park City day. He invited me into a gutted building on Main Street and said, “Welcome to Flanagan’s on Main— we open soon.” That day turned into a deep conversation about business, civic responsibility, and vision. I quickly realized JK wasn’t just opening a pub — he was building community.

In the years since, JK has become one of my closest and best friends. I’ve watched him grow Flanagan’s into a Main Street institution and transform a bankrupt RV park into River’s Edge — a thriving workforce housing, concert venue and multimillion dollar enterprise. He never confuses effort with results — if it’s broken, he fixes it.

JK is more than a successful entrepreneur. He’s served Park City with grit and humility — as chair of the Historic Committee, a leader in the Main Street Business Coalition, and a key voice on the Planning Commission. He knows the codes, the character, and the challenges of this city.

He could’ve run for mayor — many of us wanted him to. But he chose instead to back Jack Rubin for that job, saying Jack was best suited for it. That humility says everything. Now, with JK running for City Council and Jack Rubin for Mayor, Park City has a one-two punch of proven leaders.

Together, they bring financial acumen, civic depth, and operational grit — exactly what Park City needs as we prepare for the 2034 Olympics and beyond.

My name is Orie Santillo, and this is my sincere endorsement.

Vote JK for City Council. Vote JR for Mayor. Let’s fix what matters!

Dear Members of the Community,

I am honored to write this letter in strong support of JK’s candidacy for the Park City City Council. I have known JK for many years, during which he has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, a relentless drive to improve our community, and a genuine commitment to its residents. As the owner of Flanagan’s Restaurant, JK has generously fed and supported many of us, creating a sense of community and belonging that enriches our town.

JK has a proven track record of getting things done; whether advocating for better services, supporting local initiatives, or working tirelessly behind the scenes to improve Park City. His ability to navigate complex challenges with integrity and effectiveness makes him uniquely qualified to serve on the council.

His welcoming spirit, dedication, and history of positive impact make him the ideal candidate to help guide Park City’s future. I wholeheartedly support JK and believe he will serve with passion, transparency, and a true desire to make our community better for everyone.

JK is one of a kind. He’s been a friend, employer, mentor, and big brother to so many of us here in Park City over the years. Yeah, even me.

Let’s get JK over the goal line and get our city back to business.

JK is a true pillar of the Park City community - a local entrepreneur who’s employed hundreds of Parkites, housed thousands of seasonal workers, and responsibly served in city government for over 16 years. We need a leader on City Council who has actually built things and understands our community. There is no better person to help the City course correct.in this critical time.

In support of John Kenworthy (JK) for Park City Council

When I was young, JK and Nancy were there for me and my family in a way no one else had been. They took a real interest in me, someone outside their culture, offering their time, support, and care. That made them different.

When I became the first in my family to be accepted into college, they took me to Salt Lake to buy clothes so I’d feel confident and special before I left. Last year, I graduated from the University of Utah with a 3.6 GPA.

They never asked for recognition, but I want people to know that without their belief in me, I’m not sure where I’d be. JK and Nancy are truly special to my community.
